Editor Fired for Dissent on Immigration

Elites are moving swiftly to quash any appearance in the mainstream
press of expressions of public opposition to increased Third World
immigration.

They've even gone so far as to fire their own left-leaning
professional journalists who allow dissenting views to appear in
print.

That's what happened in Maine to veteran newspaper editor David
Cheever, a married father of eight who lost his job just because he
printed a guest column disagreeing with the paper's support for
transforming the U.S. through immigration.

Cheever was editorial director of two papers, the Keenebec Journal,
and the Central Maine Morning Sentinel, both owned by Blethen Maine
Newspapers, Inc., a corporate division of the Seattle Times Company,
which publishes the Seattle Times, the Portland Press Herald, and the
Maine Sunday Telegram.

Cheever had written an opinion editorial advocating acceptance of the
thousands of Somali immigrants imported to the U.S. by the State
Department. Looking for the best welfare deal, many Somalis settled in
Lewiston, Maine, burdening the small town's social welfare system and
modest tax base and school system. The colonization of Lewiston soon
triggered political conflict between the taxpayers and average
citizens on one side, and local elites and left-wing organizers on the
other side.

Cheever made the mistake of printing a guest editorial by a local
citizen, Ken Miller, himself a retired journalist, who disagreed with
Cheever's pro-immigration editorial.

That's when the big bosses came down on him.

"I was gone that day," Cheever said.

He had worked for the paper for more than six years.

Editor Fired for Dissent on Immigration
Elites are moving swiftly to quash any appearance in the mainstream

They've even gone so far as to fire their own left-leaning

Who care's if Cheever was fired? His own editorial is what counts. It
sounds like divine or cosmic justice to me that he got canned. Colorado is
the same, where one publisher owns all of the newspapers in the Denver area
and they all spout the same party line with regard to Third World
immigrants, legal or illegal. They stifle dissent and hate Western
Civilization. Cheever promoted bringing in the people who dragged our
helicopter pilots through the streets of Mogadishu for trying to feed
starving African children, so he should've been fired.

Do you have to work at sounding so stupid? Or is it a natural gift.

You want him fired for expresing his own right of free speech and
journalistic editorial freedom.

You're an embarrassment to Republicans or any other intelligent life form.
Are you sure you're not secretly a Democrat?

I'm not the person who fired the editor. Here's the part you snipped out of

Perhaps you should take issue with the people who actually did the firing.
They fired the man for allowing a letter to the editor which opposed our
nation's immigration policy. You should ask them if they have to work at
being so stupid, not me. Rather than firing the editor, I would have chosen
to boycott the newspaper by refusing to subsribe and refusing to buy the
paper out of a store or box.

This is similar to the Denver Post, Rocky Mountain News, and Boulder Daily
Camera, which all parrot the same party line and oppose Congressman Tancredo
for having the audacity to take a position opposing illegal immigration and
the matricula consular cards. The Colorado Daily always joins in and blasts
Tancredo as being Hitler's Secret Weapon for wanting stronger Homeland
Security. The issue is a centralization of ownership of the media and how
it has effectively tried to stifle debate over immigration policy. Thank
God for usenet, for it is the last bastion of free speech. Even usenet is
under attack.

I'm well aware of what I snipped and why. I stand by my comments which,
amazingly, you failed to address.
